Robert Gilpin is a famous authority of international political economy in the West. Born in Burlington, Vermont, USA in 1930. He graated from the University of Vermont in 1952. He received his master's degree from Cornell University in 1954. He received his doctorate from California State University, Berkeley, in 1960. He was engaged in postdoctoral research in Harvard University from 1960 to 1961. Professor of international relations at Princeton University since 1961. He was a research fellow of Rockefeller Foundation from 1967 to 1968 and 1976 to 1977. From 1975 to 1976, he was a member of the technical and economic advisory panel of the president of the United States. He has written a large number of books, such as American scientists and nuclear weapons policy, formulation of scientists and national policies, laws in the era of science, American strength and transnational corporations, war and change in world politics, trade, investment and technology policy, challenges of global capitalism: world economy in the 21st century, etc. Among them, political economics of International Relations (1987) and global political economics: interpreting the international economic order (2001) are his representative works on international political economics
