Nanfen tailings re concentration plant was put into operation in October 1993. In recent years, the concentrate output is stable and the economic benefit is considerable. The economic benefits of Nanfen tailings over the years are shown in Table 2

(2) Waitoushan concentrator of Benxi steel. Waitoushan concentrator discharges 2.28 million tons of tailings every year. The tailings are separated into coarse concentrate by JHC giant ring magnetic separator, and then the coarse concentrate is pumped to a separate re concentration plant. The final concentrate is obtained through the process of low intensity magnetic separation grinding classification magnetic dewatering double drum low intensity magnetic separation. The process flow of Waitoushan tailings re concentration is shown in Figure 7< The grade of Waitoushan tailings is 7.62% before re concentration and 6.15% after re concentration. The main proction equipment of Waitoushan tailings concentration plant is shown in Figure 8

Dagushan Concentrator has invested 10 million yuan so far to establish three tailings re concentration recovery points. Magnetic separation regrinding re concentration process is adopted for tailings re concentration. There are two technological processes for tailings re concentration:
the first process is to cut off the flow on the tailings pipeline and connect the branch pipe from the main pipe. The tailings are separated into coarse concentrate by cylindrical magnetic separator, and then reground and magnetic separation
5. China is rich in iron ore resources, with proven iron ore reserves of 53.1 billion tons. With the development of China's national economy, the amount of iron ore provided for the iron and steel instry is about 200-250 million tons per year. Due to the poor, fine and miscellaneous characteristics of iron ore in China, a large number of tailings are proced in the process of mining and ore processing. According to statistics, the annual amount of tailings discharged from iron ore dressing plant is about 130-170 million tons. At present, tailings have become a serious pollution source of the mine. A large amount of tailings not only pollutes the surrounding environment, but also causes landslides and dam break accidents, endangering the safety of people's lives and property. It also occupies a lot of land, consumes a lot of funds, wastes resources, and affects the economic benefits of enterprises. It not only damages the ecological balance, but also hinders the economic development< At the second working conference on prevention and control of instrial pollution, Comrade Zhu Rongji stressed: "comprehensive utilization and turning waste into treasure not only protect national resources, but also make full use of national resources and purify the environment. It can be said that more can be achieved with one stone." In view of the present situation that the primary mineral resources are decreasing day by day in our country, it is an important problem to be solved urgently in the current mining development to reasonably develop and effectively utilize the tailings discharged from the ore dressing plants as the secondary mineral resources, so as to turn harm into benefit and waste into treasure. Mineral resources are a kind of non renewable resources. The full and reasonable use of tailings resources plays a very important role in improving the environment, ensuring the safety of people's property, recing the occupation of land, saving resources and improving the economic benefits of mines. It will be concive to the sustainable development of mining instry and obtain good social, environmental and economic benefits
the comprehensive utilization degree of tailings resources is a sign to measure a country's scientific and technological level, economic development and ecological environment protection. The developed countries take the waste free mine as the development goal. The comprehensive utilization of tailings resources in China's iron ore concentrators started late, and the recovery rate of tailings is very low, only about 7%. At present, according to the comprehensive utilization of tailings and the use of processed procts, it can be summarized as follows:
(1) tailings re concentration to recover a variety of valuable metals
(2) tailings are processed into a variety of building materials
(3) tailings are used as filling materials for goaf
(4) tailing is used to make agricultural fertilizer and improve soil
tailings re concentration measures
tailings are huge potential secondary mineral resources. China's iron ore resources are mostly lean ore, with iron grade of 30% - 35% accounting for about 80%, some of which are associated with polymetallic ore, hematite, etc. According to different types of lean iron ore, different separation processes should be adopted to recover one or more useful metals
through the investigation on the comprehensive utilization of tailings from more than 100 large and medium-sized iron ore concentrators in China's metallurgical system, it is known that the re concentration of tailings to recover a variety of valuable metals is an important way for the comprehensive utilization of tailings from iron ore concentrators, an effective measure for mine enterprises to increase proction and generate income, and a major measure for mine pollution control and environmental purification
in recent years, on the basis of experimental research on tailings re concentration, China's iron ore concentrators have adopted a variety of measures to re concentrate tailings, recover useful minerals, rece the final tailings grade, and obtain considerable economic benefits< According to the characteristics of tailings re concentration process and measures, it can be divided into three types:
(1) combination of increasing re concentration equipment and using idle equipment of main plant:
(2) combination of increasing re concentration equipment and using original process of main plant
(3) establishment of separate tailings re concentration plant
1.1 increase the reselection equipment and use the idle equipment in the main plant
most of China's large and medium-sized iron ore concentrators were built and put into operation from 1950s to 1970s. With the development of metallurgical instry, iron ore resources are graally reced and disappeared. At present, the mining proction capacity of some iron ores is reced, resulting in the situation that the proction capacity of concentrator is greater than that of mining proction capacity. Some equipment and facilities are idle, which directly affects the economic benefits of mining enterprises. In order to make rational use of the tailings resources and give full play to the existing potential, some concentrators adopt the measures of increasing the re concentration equipment and using the idle equipment to re concentrate the tailings discharged from the concentrator to obtain qualified concentrate, so as to achieve the purpose of recing tailings, increasing proction and income. There are Shougang waterworks concentrator, Dashihe concentrator, etc< The original design capacity of Dashihe concentrator and Shuichang Concentrator of Shougang Mining Company is 27 million tons of raw ore per year, which adopts three stages and one closed circuit crushing, stage grinding, stage separation, combined separation of low intensity magnetic separation and gravity separation, and fine screen self circulation process. The original design has 26 sets ¢ 2700mm × 3600 mm ball mill series. In recent years, e to the decline of mining proction capacity, the actual annual processing capacity of raw ore is only about 10 million tons, and about 60% of the rich capacity of the concentrator can be used
(1) the tailings of the concentrator of the waterworks are reprocessed. Construction of tailings re concentration equipment outside the main house. A 612m2 plant is built with 16 bkw1030 magnetic separators for tailings re concentration. The recovered coarse concentrate is pumped to the main plant for grinding and re concentration. In the main hall, two idle grinding and dressing series are used to treat the recovered coarse concentrate separately and process it into qualified concentrate. The flowsheet of tailings re concentration in Shuichang Concentrator is shown in Figure 1< (2) tailings re concentration in Dashihe concentrator. There are two processes in the tailings re concentration facility of the plant. The first process is to concentrate part of the tailings to be re concentrated by a series of magnetic separation equipment shut down in the main plant. The re concentration concentrate is grinded and re concentrated by the process of processing raw ore in the main plant to proce qualified concentrate. See Figure 2 for the first process of tailings re concentration in Dashihe concentrator
the second process of tailings re concentration in Dashihe concentrator belongs to the second type, which is the combination of adding RE concentration equipment and using the original process of the main plant
1.2 increase the re concentration equipment and use the original process of the main plant
this type of concentrator includes some series of Dashihe concentrator, Gongchangling concentrator of Angang and Chengchao concentrator of WISCO
(1) after the magnetic separation operation in each section of the main plant, some series of bkw103 tailings re separation magnetic separators are installed in Dashihe concentrator to re concentrate the tailings. The re concentrated concentrate enters this process for regrinding and re separation, and is processed into qualified concentrate. See Figure 3 for the second process of tailings re concentration in Dashihe concentrator< (2) tailings re concentration in Gongchangling concentrator of Angang. A sweeping workshop was built outside the main hall and six cp2012 disc permanent magnet machines were installed. The tailings proced in the main workshop are pumped into the primary magnetic separation after one-stage grinding of the original proction series after the coarse concentrate is selected by the magnetic separator, and then processed into the final concentrate together with the raw ore through the subsequent operations. The feature of the process is to make full use of the resial capacity of the original process equipment, only adding magnetic separator for tailings recovery and re separation, without adding grinding and classification equipment. The flowsheet of tailings re concentration in Gongchangling concentrator is shown in Figure 4
(3) tailings re concentration in Chengchao concentrator of WISCO. Using the tailings conveying chute of the existing concentrator, a JHC type rectangular ring permanent magnetic separator is installed before the tailings enter the concentration pool, so that all the tailings are re concentrated, and the coarse concentrate after re concentration is pumped back to the existing proction system for continuous separation, and then processed into qualified iron concentrate through the process of fine screening regrinding magnetic separation. The process flow is shown in Figure 5< In order to rece the final tailings grade, rece the cost of concentrate and improve the economic benefits of enterprises, many iron ore concentrators in China have set up separate tailings concentration plants with self raised funds. Benxi Steel Nanfen and Waitoushan tailings re concentration plant, Angang Dagushan, Donganshan and Qidashan tailings re concentration plant, and Maanshan mining company tailings re concentration plant have achieved good economic benefits
(1) tailings re concentration plant of Nanfen concentrator of Benxi steel. Nanfen concentrator discharges 5 million tons of tailings every year. The total tailings discharged from No.3, No.4 and No.5 concentrators of Nanfen mine are used to select the coarse concentrate by HS type magnetic recovery machine, and then the coarse concentrate is pumped to a separate reconcentration plant, and the final concentrate is obtained through the process of low intensity magnetic separation grinding classification magnetic dewatering low intensity magnetic separation fine screening low intensity magnetic separation filtration. The process flow of Nanfen tailings re concentration is shown in Figure 6. The grade of tailings in the car room of Nanfen No.3, No.4 and No.5 concentrators is 8.6% before re concentration and 8.03% after re concentration. The proction equipment of Nanfen tailings re concentration plant is shown in Table 1
